Photograph courtesy of Raymond Griffiths to whom we express our special thanks.

In 2007, our mission began to photograph all the remaining graves over 50 years old in our Black Country Churchyards and Cemeteries.

We decided then, that as a tribute to the men who died in World War One and World War Two, we would add a photograph of their grave to a website produced in their memory.

We still have a considerable amount of work to carry out because not all the graves appear for each Church/Cemetery (we have noted where we have ALL the graves for a particular Church/Cemetery). Additionally, we have added links to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website which take you to the information relevant to each casualty. The work of the CWGC is invaluable - please see here:

http://www.cwgc.org/

We aim to add a brief family history for each individual and will look at archived newspapers from which we can gain a great deal of information. As with our other three Churchyards and Cemeteries websites, we hope this will assist you in your research and be a place you can visit to locate the grave of your ancestors and loved ones, especially if you are unable to visit the Black Country. It is our aim to photograph every Commonwealth War Grave in the Black Country by 2014 - the centenary of the beginning of the Great War.

(Please note that as this is a work in progress there are incomplete pages - these will be added to in due course).

We make no charge for photographs for personal use but would ask that you consider making a small donation to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
